I love the song God of this City. While I definitely pray for the world and our nation, I also pray how I can make a difference in my own community. Sometimes I think it can be daunting to pray big prayers. I know God hears them but we do not always get to see the fruit of what we pray. On the other hand, ministering to someone you know or see or come across may make all of the difference in their world.
Two things my grandmother taught me at a very early age was to be gracious and to not talk about people. People told her all kinds of things but she didn't gossip or try to make people look back when she knew things. Also, she taught me to love people even when they didn't deserve it. It doesn't take much to show the love of God and the person that deserves it the least needs it the most.
I am blown away that Kris Allen won American Idol. Our family has enjoyed watching the video I am posting below which is Kris singing his heart out doing what he does best, worshiping the Lord. When I was watching him on American Idol I thought to myself, "He has to be a Christian, as he is so humble and gracious." I looked him up and found out he is a spirit-filled worship leader. WOW! God was in control when Kris beat the odds and won.
I hope you enjoy watching Kris sing this video and let's pray that he stay true to the Lord. If you have a burden today, take a radical step and let the Lord have it and don't take it back. I have struggled in so many areas but I am trying to let the Lord do what he promised me, "My yoke is easy and my burden is light.....Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest."
Remember that God is in control....

I am glad a Christian man has won American Idol. I don’t follow these shows but is he the young family man?

[this is good]
Good post, It's the true gift, giving of ones self to another, the old adage, "it is better to give than receive" is not only as some would apply to material things, but often it is in what we cannot see, a kind word of compassion, lending a hand or an ear to someone in need, doing for others as Christ did for us. It's simple really and the rewards are better than gold, it waters the spirit and embraces the soul, sounds like your gramma was very wise.
No surprise about Kris Allen! God is in control!
